Yamaha RD350LC (1984)

Purchased this 'Mars Bar' coloured Yamaha RD350LC in early 1987. Nice bike and in pretty standard condition. Reg A995 XMP.

I'd recently sold my Suzuki RG500 and had put my Kawasaki Z650 back on the road. I liked the Z and I've had several more over the years, but I'd sort of got used the lighter feel of the RG so when this came up locally I got it.

Nothing wrong with the bike at all,  it was fairly quick, but after my Yoshi tuned Z and the RG500 it did feel a tad slow!

First up was to re-jet the carbs and fit a set of Microns. This did improve things, but not enoough.

Next up was fitting a 375cc Big Bore kit and a bit more re-jetting. This again made the bike that bit more powerful but that's as far as I got.

I didn't have the time to play around with getting the bike ported or any other mods so just used as it was until I sold and got a Suzuki GSXR750 later in the year.

Overall the bike great, it was light, nimble, good (well good enough) brake and excellent handling,  In hindsight maybe I have should have held on to it a little longer!

According to DVLA in 2026 the bike is still registered and at some point was changed to blue. Last V5C was back in 1996 and there's no recorded MOT and not Tax since 2001. Either it's sitting in someone garage or it's lying dead in a ditch somewhere.
