Kawasaki Z650 C2

This my last Kawasaki Z650 (Reg UVM782R) sold back in 2012 after owning for 8 years.

Purchased from a chap in Chelmsford in 2004 with a bit of worked needed.

Pictures below are of the bike when I first got it.

Most of the immediate things to do were cosmetics & Electrics.

Although mostly working the electrics were a mess and needed a lot of work. Gave it my best but it was so modified I couldn't follow any wiring diagrams and was unhappy with the amount of wire joins all over the place. NOS items long since gone so had to find a better harness from the US, which fitted nicely.

Bike wasn't charging  properly so that needed to get sorted. Also had to sort out the handlebar switches on both sides due to intermittent problems and while there had them repainted.

Engine covers on both sides badly scratched, front and rear mudguards, missing Airbox, indicators etc. etc.

Once the 'bugs' were sorted it was time to do everything else.

Bike was totally stripped down with engine out. Frame and blackwork off to CRTC in Maldon for powder coating. Small bits like bolts off to Kings in Canvey for replating.

Replacement parts sourced for the bits too bad to reuse.

Engine top end had been smoking a bit, so head and barrels off to check things over.  Top end stripped, blasted, valves replaced with new seals. New camchain fitted.

Loads of stuff replaced with either NOS, new or good used parts.

New tyres and tubes.

Wheels stripped and rebuilt with new bearings.

Headstock roller bearings.

New clutch plates.

Carbs stripped and rebuilt.

New drive chain.

Forks rebuilt with new seals and oil.

Brakes rebuilt with new Goodridge hoses and new pads.

Replacement cables.

NOS seat.

Dream Machine paintwork set.

Replacement exhaust headers.

New Campbell's silencers.

Electronic ignition upgrade.

New indicators all round..;

Bike turned out nice and I ran the bike for several years without any major issues and it was a great ride.

Probably one I should have kept but had my eye on some other machines so this one had to go.

According to DVLA in 2026 bike is still in use, with Tax and mot history to 2015 (since then it's been Historic).
