2025 MOT

This one came up locally in 2019 and thought it would be good to compare this with my 1000.

Needed a few bits and pieces sorting, but overall was in very good condition for the year.

Covered around 4000 miles on this and I have to say it is an improvement on the 1000 version. I really like the relaxed feel and handling of these machines, at ease on the big roads and twisty country lanes.

The big difference, for me anyway, is the engine. Gone is the noisy dry clutch from the 1000 and not having that noise to deal with all the time is a real bonus and although iconic to some, it's also blooming noisy after 5-6 hours of country roads.

The engine is much happier and low revs than the 1000 version and it feels like it has more punch than the 1000, but apart from that just about everything else is the same.

Timing Belts hadn't been changed for some years, so first task was to sort that using ExactFit parts. This was the first time I changed belts on one of these engines, but seemed to work out ok as covered several thousand miles since and no issues.

The main oil lines were corroded on the outside, so these were replaced these with new items and also fitted new oil filter, oil sensor and engine oil.

Tickover was, a bit low at times and felt like is happens more when fuel is getting low so I fitted a Booster Plug to see if that assists or may have had to look into adjusting the TPS. The Booster did the trick and oddly when I later took it off the bike the tickover remained good.
